Vance Stevens en La Plata

August 11, 2010 from Wednesday, 11 August 2010, 15:30 to around 17:00 GMT, 12:30 to around 2:00 Argentina time, I've been invited to give a presentation in La Plata about "PLN ( Personal Learning Networks): The paradigm shift  in learner and teacher autonomy"  at the School of Languages:

http://englishvirtualcommunity.blogspot.com/2010/08/vance-stevens-and-pln.html?spref=fb.

It will be essentially the same talk I gave in Sao Paulo in July, http://braz2010vance.pbworks.com/PLN, but I hope to be able to record the session this time and podcast it.

The Facebook event is here:

The audio recorded Aug 11, 2010 in La Plata Argentina of "PLN: The paradigm shift in teacher and learner autonomy" was podcast at: http://podOmatic.com/r/yZRc

Nelba Quintana´s blog posts on the event are here:

On the day ..

I met Webheads Nelba Quintana and Susana Canelo in La Plata :-)

Unfortunately there were Internet problems at the Escuela de Idiomas.  We were able to get into Elluminate and get it working for ten minutes but then the network at EdI just did a belly flop and lay there and we had no connectivity whatsoever, so I fired up Audacity on my netbook and we presented in conventional fashion from the PowerPoint I was also not able to upload to Elluminate, and I guess I now see why ;-)

I will try to get the recording into Podomatic and link to that from here (not right now though)

My follow-on message to Webheads, and Teresa's response:

Earlier in the day I had sent this out to the TALO, FLNW, Webheads, and Learning with Computers lists ...

Hi everyone,

I'm about to enjoy my last day in Argentina this summer where I've just given a couple of presentations with Jennifer Verschoor and Rita Zeinstejer: http://braz2010vance.pbworks.com/buenosaires

and http://twitpic.com/2di93j

I'm traveling to La Plata today to hook up with Nelba Quintana there and give a presentation Wednesday, 11 August 2010, 15:00:00. When I get there I'll look into the possibility of doing it live on the Internet.

You can read more about the presentation here: http://braz2010vance.pbworks.com/LaPlat

and you can see the text written out with the argument I plan to present here: http://braz2010vance.pbworks.com/PLN

This event is the last in a series of FLNW and Webheads events in which I've participated this summer.

http://advanceducation.blogspot.com/2010/07/future-of-learning-in-networked-world.html

As often happens with these events that occur at places where I arrive for the first time an hour before the presentation, I don't know what the connectivity, audo, and audience issues will be, but I will go there and attempt to reach Elluminate and see if we can get sound out to the room.  If that's possible I'll tweet and write lists that the event will take place at http://tinyurl.com/y3eh, or wherever we decide to have it, uStream, Skype, whatever.

So if you're hanging out online at around 15:00 GMT today and if you're interested in the event, you can check http://twitter.com/vances and see if we're having any success with the online component. If so, you are welcome to join us.

Hope it works, and if so, to see you there,

Vance

Hope to see, Vance in Kuwait one day in the future, inshalla, as I'm so jealous from you Webhead colleagues in La Plata and other parts of S. America..

Congrats to all of you on such wonderful job; I'll further read stuff published on this wiki, soon.

Way to go, Vance and All Webheads!

Love & Peace from Kuwait :)

It was great to have the opportunity to meet Nelba's enthusiastic colleagues in La Plata and I hope one day to have the opportunity to come up to do something similar for Buth in Kuwait
